Michael Christian Simon

Managing Director

Michael was born, raised and educated in Penang, The island's famous Nasi Kandar curries run through his veins he claims, and he can eat (and does not try to) eat curry every day. He began his foray into broadcasting by joining TV3 entertainment as a Assistant Producer and remained there for 8 years and was, during his term, promoted to Senior Producer. He left to work with Channel (V) for 2 years as an Executive Producer but soon tired of the glitz and glamour of VJs and stars and returned to Sri Pentas by becoming a Consultant for the Urban Content Department of the newly-launched channel, 8TV in 2003. He was then promoted to Manager of the station's urban content creation department the following year. He left the station in 2005 with gems like "The Quickie" and "Latte@8" to start Homegrown Productions Sdn Bhd.

Ivy Sam

Manager

Ivy's background in journalism has seen her working in various mediums in broadcasting. She has worked in TV3's busy newsroom and was a News Producer in 8TV and has dabbled briefly in radio before moving on to work as a correspondent for the foreign wires Agence Frances-Producer (afp). Ivy then joined Homegrown to contribute to content production and the defacto "human resource" department of the company.

Farid Othman

Executive Producer

Farid started his career in TV production as an assistant producer in 1995 helping to produce infomercials in the then newly set-up, Smartshop under TV3. When Smartshop was privatised and taken up by Ambang Anika, Farid joined them as a director in the company. Since joining Homegrown, he’s directed highly rated series such as Raja Lawak Profiles, Raja Lawak Ceritera and Destinasi Bajet shooting across Asia in locations such as Phillipines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand to list a few.

Becky Gopalan

Head of Production

With over 16 years production experience in TV, Audio & Film; Becky has worked around the globe for both international and local broadcasters on reality shows, documentaries, travel programs, entertainment shows, movies and commercials. She’s also been responsible for setting up and training production teams around Indonesia and Malaysia.

Ravi Rishyakaran

Head of Post Production

Joining the team as an intern in 2006, Ravi stayed on at Homegrown starting of as an in house editor for the company. He now leads the editing division as head of Post Production and has been working on highly rated series such as Raja Lawak , Maharaja Lawak, Maharaja Lawak Mega and Destinasi Bajet to name a few. He’s also directed shows such as Homegrown Acoustic Sessions, Raja Lawak Auditions, Penang Island Jazz Festival, BandTV and various gigs at the Homegrown Space.

Yuriz Joe

Junior Editor

Versatility best explains this Junior Video Editor. With more than a decade of experience in music, audio engineering, events and the performing arts, he's able to use his vast experience by approaching his editing with a clear understanding from multiple perspectives. Recently he’s been handling our offline edits for Maharaja Lawak Terbaik, Apa Kata M, BandTV and our Homegrow Space gigs.

Mohd Isham Ishak

Director of Business Development

A man with 10 years of corporate experience, Isham has a background in multiple business divisions that covers finance, sales and marketing, corporate communication & development, retail, international marketing and project management. He has served in various major corporations like ‘Putrajaya Holdings’, ‘Pico International’, ‘YTL’ and Malaysia’s external trade development corporation. At Homegrown, his position plays a part in the company’s expansion programme; seeking to align the business with the aim to grow and be a major player in the local production industry.

Nabihah Nabil

Assistant Producer

Starting off as an intern in 2009, this Advertising student remaind at Homegrown Productions as a permanent staff due to her love for broadcast. Working as an Assistant Producer, she handles pre-production and fills in at shoot where possible be it Floor Managing, handling interviews and writing scripts. She’s worked on productions like Destinasi Bajet, Hitz Session, Saya Nak Cuti, Raja Lawak, Maharaja Lawak and Maharaja Lawak Mega. She also oversees the production for Apa Kata M for Murai.com

Sugin Charles

Assistant Producer

This graduate from UTAR began as an intern in 2008 and returned after completing his studies in Bachelor (Hon.) of Communications in 2010. This assistant producer’s forte consists of handling technical equipment when it comes to production. He also handles pre-production for shows such as the Coke Show, Raja Lawak Profiles, Jozan, BandTV and various gigs at the Homegrown Space. Recently, he’s begun his foray in directing the Raja Lawak auditions.

Tabitha Rani

Assistant Producer

With a background in journalism and writing for newspapers’ and magazines’, this Assistant Producer joined Homegrown Productions last year and does all the write ups for Homegrown Productions and Homegrown Space. Tabby also assists in pre production for our shoots and oversees additional R&D when required. This writer turned production crew also handles contestants for Maharaja Lawak Mega and Raja Lawak at all our LIVE shows.

Razmin Azman

Junior Assistant Producer

A student of creative multimedia, Razmin joined Homegrown as an intern last year and is currently an in house full time staff. This Assistant Producer handles audio for most shoots and also for the gigs at the Homegrown Space. He also oversees equipment prep and premits for our shoots. Most recently, he’s begun Floor Managing for top rated LIVE shows such as Maharaja Lawak Mega and Raja Lawak season 6.

Joannes Soorian

Production Asisstant

The youngest addition to the Homegrown family, Jo has been interested in camera-work since he was 16 and began sharpening his camera skills at church camps. Upon completing form 6, Jo went straight to work starting off as an assistant cameraman and becoming a cameraman for Astro Arena. At Homegrown, he’s now harnessing his editing skills and continues to learn different camera techniques to feed his passion.

Mohd Faiz Hizwan

Web Designer

Homegrown’s very own web wizard; crafting his designs and placements for the Homegrown website, Faiz has been working as a web designer for over two years and joined Homegrown in August 2011. All that you see on this site is the vision brought to life by this talented web designer.
